Upcoming activities from CAVA Sweden

First up is the “International Conference on Changing Attitudes to Dating Violence in Adolescents”, at University West in Trollhättan, Sweden, from 29 February to 2 March 2012. The conference is financed by Daphne and the participants only pay for travel and accommodation.

The aim of the conference is to disseminate knowledge about adolescent relationships, dating violence, changing attitudes using serious games and eLearning. There will be international speakers and several stakeholders, professionals and researchers will attend the conference. From the end of October you will find more information on the CAVA homepage about the conference and registration, which is open until 15 January 2012.

Secondly, CAVA Sweden is preparing several workshop activities. The workshop design will be piloted with teachers in March 2012. In addition, discussions about pedagogical and content issues are currently being held with teachers with whom Cava Sweden has regular contact at University West.

Thirdly, CAVA Sweden is determining how to administer the testing and evaluation of the online game. The next step is contacting the schools with whom they are collaborating late this autumn or early 2012, to make a preliminary schedule for the five lessons during the autumn of 2012.

Finally, the CAVA project will be presented to various groups in Sweden before the end of 2011. Following a presentation to about 300 high school students who visited University West, there remain two presentations this year:
  • on 17 November 2011, the project was presented to 350 professionals at a conference on violence among adolescents
  • on 30 November 2011, there will be a presentation for university students at a half-day research conference.
